Recovery & Stability

After conflict or in times of instability, the needs of affected populations are many and varied. To put communities back on their feet, it is essential to strengthen the basic functions of the state, especially in relation to security, access to water, education and employment. The FSD is active on these different fronts.

Support to peace processes

FSD contributes to fostering stability in several post-conflict areas. In the Central African Republic, the organization is supporting the establishment of joint peace teams including government forces and ex-rebels by rehabilitating infrastructure intended for them across the country. Support is also offered to them at the logistical and administrative level. In the Philippines, west of the island of Mindanao, FSD is also supporting the formation of joint peace teams and using mine clearance as a tool for mediation between ex-belligerents.

Community development

FSD takes advantage of its presence in countries affected by armed conflicts to carry out various activities to support populations. In the Central African Republic, the organization is helping to expand access to drinking water, (solar) electricity, and education. In Ukraine, FSD is concentrating its efforts on rehabilitating schools and kindergartens located along the front line in the east of the country.

In addition, as part of its building rehabilitation activities in the Central African Republic, FSD works directly with local businesses. It also supports specific projects aimed at supporting the economic reintegration of women victims of family conflicts.
